lol again?
Dear Customer,
We are writing on behalf of Cox Communications to advise you that we have received a notification that you are using your Cox High Speed Internet service to post or transmit material that infringes the copyrights of a complainant's members. We have included a copy of the complaint letter. Pursuant to the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), which is codified at 17 U.S.C. § 512, upon receiving such notification, Cox is required to "act expeditiously to remove, or disable access to" the infringing material in order to avoid liability for any alleged copyright infringement. Accordingly, Cox will suspend your account and disable your connection to the Internet within 24 hours of your receipt of this email if the offending material is not removed.
Please be aware that the DMCA also provides procedures by which a subscriber accused of copyright violation can respond to the allegations of infringement and, under certain circumstances, cause his or her account to be reinstated. To do so, however, the response must meet certain criteria. Pursuant to section (g) of the DMCA (17 U.S.C. § 512(g)), you have the right to submit to Cox a counter-notification which, to be effective, must include the following elements:
(a) a physical or electronic signature of the subscriber;
(b) identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or disabled;
(c) a statement under penalty of perjury that the subscriber has a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled;
(d) the subscriberÂ's name, address, and telephone number and a statement that the subscriber consents to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which the address is located.
In the event that you submit to Cox a counter-notification that includes these elements, Cox will forward your counter notification to the complainant and advise them that Cox will cease disabling access to the allegedly infringing material in ten (10) business days. Unless the complainant notifies us that it has filed an action seeking a court order to restrain you from engaging in the allegedly infringing activity prior to the expiration of those ten (10) business days, Cox will reactivate your account.
Sincerely,
The Cox Abuse Team

Actually, irc is one of the more secure ways of transmitting data. kazaa/morpheus/etc. are FAR easier to track than irc.

Hmm, sounds like you were not caught with your hand in the cookie jar but giving out free cookies instead. Hide the cookie jar so there is no proof it was you and then sneak them to people. Let others take the blame. Its all good as long as your hands are clean of it. LOL

Did you sign a privicy contract?
Some companys make you sign a contract saying that they will not watch what your doing, Hell most company does it because people like to look at porn hehehe and dont want ISP to see what they are doing.. Anyways if you did make a copy of that contract and send it back to them. Ask them why they voided there own contract.

I support Jewel. Just because he was cheating does not mean he deserves the level of harrassment that crector has been giving him. The man is an unleashed pitbull with bloodlust.
On a side note, Jewel, you are a moron.

i have another idea to stop piracy: music companies start publishing decent albums instead of charging 15 bucks for 1 song and a bunch of shit. ive got no problem paying $15 for a CD, but i do have a problem with paying $15 for a SONG.
movies are a different story. if its a movie worth getting, just pay the $20 =/.

Ditto what Snootch said.
I admit, I do download songs off the internet.
Why? Because as Snootch said, most albums out today are one or two songs and the rest are filler crap.
Bands and record companies are so into making as much money as is possible, that they're forgetting to make decent music.
I have no problem spending $15.00 for a cd with a bunch of good songs on it. I'm more than willing to in fact. But when there's only one or two songs I like, it's just not worth it.

Oh my goodness, it all makes sense, i realize my wrongdoing brought forward to me by that article and will stop sharing immediatly, how could i have been doing something so wrong for so long.... i disgrace myself and my honor by dling mp3s and i shall do so no more....
....For anyone who believed that... shame on you.
I also agree with snootch. I actually prefer having the actual cd rather than a burned one if i really like the album, but now adays, i dont have the money to pay $15-20 dollars for a crappy cd with 2 good songs.

me too. honestly, i will not burn a cd or download mp3's of an artist i like, respect and feel that they are really trying to make good music. i would prefer to support them so they can keep making good stuff.
