House Forsaken in TDZK Before the Scandal

A little known fact is that the great browser based game TDZK that flourished during the years 2001-2007 was created by 2 members of the House Forsaken multi-game clan, Jerle & Hotaru. Both of these worthies had been members of the House Forsaken alliance in Space Merchant that played under the name of the "Trex Mercenaries." TDZK was inspired by Space Merchant and was soon a much better game than what SM ever was. However, there was a problem: getting their follow HF members into the game. Back in the Fall of 2001, in one of TDZK's earliest rounds, if not in fact its very first round, there was a Top Ten ranked HF alliance under StormFire aka the longtime #3 guy in all of HF. HF then failed to maintain an alliance in TDZK for over a year.

Finally, after some prodding from Jerle & Hotaru I decided to take HF into TDZK. To do that I first had to resign as the in-game leader of the HF alliance in SMR and hand over the position to my talented protege there, Omega Renegade. Then I posted to both the HF Browser Based Gaming (BBG) Realm & the General Discussion Forum (GDF) about taking HF back into TDZK. Posting on the GDF proved to be a mixed blessing since while it attracted a number of talented players to the game, it also attracted the interest of a senior HF member named Jewel who proved to be both a cheater as well an incredibly ineffective alliance leader and an idiot to boot.

However, the HF alliance initially thrived. For instance it moved up in the alliance rankings from #49 to #39 in just one day. Meanwhile, our close allies the Shadow Knights (SK's) under Malhavoc also moved up the alliance rankings from #65 to #42 in just about one day was well. Recruiting went so well that we set up a new alliance, House Forsaken 2, that served as a recruit/training alliance. I decided to make myself the leader of HF2. I still remained the overall leader of the HF forces in TDZK. My preference for the leadership of the main HF alliance was an experienced veteran of BBG's such as either DarkFlare or DracoLichB, however both declined the honor. Since Jewel really wanted that position and his shortcomings were not yet apparent, he was picked.

Both of the House Forsaken alliances along with the SK's rapidly became a force to be reckoned with. According to my notebook from this time (Yes I still have my gaming notebooks from such games as Diaspora, Dominion, Merchant Empires, Planetarion, Quest for Yap, Solar Empire, Space Merchant & SM's wretched "close clone" SMR & SpaceDog's unsuccessful Trade Wars like BBG The Merchant among others. Do you?), the main HF alliance ranked #19 while HF 2 ranked #22 and the SK's ranked #28. However disaster struck in mid-March, 2003, Jerle informed me on ICQ (In a conv that I inexplicably failed to cut & paste to email) that he had, and not for the first time, caught both Hyperion & Jewel running multi's. On top of that, he also caught Hyperion right in the act in some other act of something even worse than mere cheating: Hyperion was using his multi-account in a childish attempt to start a war between the HF/SK forces and a powerful alliance called Iron Ring. And this despite the fact that we were already in a war with the powerful Dark Realms alliance.

It was at precisely this point that everything went to Hell.

Forsaken member resignation.

------------------------------------------------------------
I am officially resigning my status as a member of
House Forsaken. I have met many friends here, but I
must take my leave now.

I've never been really good at being subtle, so I'll
be blunt. I can't stand to be affiliated with a house
that cannot fulfill its own rules. In light of recent
events, this is the first time in my three years of
membership that I have been ashamed of being a member
of this community, and since nothing seems to be in
the works as a solution, I bid you all adieu.

You all know where I am if you ever want to talk.

Hotaru's resignation from HF was followed up by this by Pinkus aka Krioni, the head of the Browser Based Gaming Realm:

crector and hotaru were actually upducted
from their beds and brainwashed. Thats why they are
leaving...

As for my "leaving" that did not come about until 5 days later when I was formally expelled from HF under the direct orders of HF's Founder-Leader UsuRpeR who made an incredibly vitriolic post, that among other things, claimed that I was 100 times worse than Hitler. I really wanted remain in HF at least until TDZK would reset when I would form a new alliance and take as many of the HF recruits from SMR & TDZK as I could with me. By the time of my expulsion, I was already talking to many of these recruits such as Bakito, Bink, Chaortis, Desert Fox, Dragonte & Sgili, conversations that would eventually lead to the founding of the Knights of the Galaxy (KOG).

However, the KOG is another story for another time.

Classic OMGN News Post: House Forsaken Website Screw-Up

House Forsaken Website Screw-Up
By: Charles Rector | Other | 6:23pm, September 7, 2005
The website for the online gaming group House Forsaken has been down for the past few days. Visitors to it receive this message:

House Forsaken
This site is down for maintenance.
Please check back again soon.
No peeking!
Forums: http://forum.houseforsaken.com

However, if you access the forums URL, you will soon find up that the situation is far worse than "down for maintenance."

Here's the forum announcement from "Administrator" Aeon:

Yes we lost the forums.
Long story short:

The backup was corrupted. I recovered as much as I ccould, but what I could recover.. was mostly worthless.

I apologize. I've spent the last 18 hours trying to fix it / rebuild the database.

If you see it here, I was able to save it.

I wish I could say I can think of something that was really important and Im upset I did not save:

On a brighter note: this saves a lot of my clean-up.

The database was almost 400 megabytes and really killing the server.

Most users wont have to re-register. If you're a newer member.. You will.

According to Rheem Octuris, the cause of the destruction of the old forum was:

It seems while Aeon was backing up the forum and converting to the new one, the server went down and some of the tables were corrupted.

I recommend going back and reset all your settings. They probably rolled back a few months.

The same thing happened back in late 2000, except the culprit that time was Maddog. Back then, HF was still a strong gaming clan and as such was able to survive the ordeal with minimal loss in membership. Since then, it has deteriorated to nothing more than a glorified forum clan. Now that the central hub of all clan activity has been zapped, it will be most interesting to see just what kind of impact that it has on HF.

I voted no. The whole idea of having a show based around what a guy does in 24 hours time is utterly unrealistic, especially since every episode is action-packed. All that action without the hero spending a good part of that 24 hours asleep.......

crector - sometimes people can stay awake for 24 + hours. Especially in times of crisis. The first season he had his wife and kid abducted or something like that ( never really watched the show), in addition to everything else he had going on. Would YOU sleep with your wife and kids lives on the line?

Im developing a fps game
Hi, Im the founder of a group developing a fps game. Were looking for people to add to the game and help in its development in any way. The funnest part of making a game is getting to play and improve it. If anyone is interested in developing first person or 3rd person multi player games and is dedicated enough respond to this post and tell me about your skills and intentions.
Sincerely,
Hoda

Hoda! Get on IRC some and have a chat with RVD, I know you're busy but we need to see more of you to start your recruitment process.

As for helping to develop a game, I'm very interested, but could you elaborate on the skills/experience needed? I've got the time and effort to do it, never tested a game though.

Great
Ok ive been idling forever now. Ill just stay in #forsaken so RVD gets around to talking with me.
Id like to make our project House Forsaken endorsed :D
As far as skills needed. The most valuable skill REQUIRED is the ability to learn and adapt. I like to do as much as i can find the time to do. I make models maps skins and textures as often as i can. There are no rules, the only limit to your involvment is your imagination. I do offer a equal share of everything to members of our group. Were developing with commercial success in mind. And i prefer a written contract for serious members. I also would like to see more than just the one game weve been planning made. Theres just too many good ideas that are so completly different to put in just one game.
BTW- Testing your game is the absolute funnest part of development.

directions?
I know i didnt give a complete description of our group. Were still in start up mode. We have a few web-pages up but nothing worth putting in your favorites and going too. I maintain an IRC channel on gamesnet (#mercs). Im planning on moving that too our own irc server or using another chat client. The best thing for anyone who wants to get involved to do is too communicate with me as much as you can. untill we get a nice php website with community support well have to play it by ear. I will always have the internet and im not going anywhere so dont worry about me disapeering EVER. I look at everyone as an individual and i never forget anyone who wants to help us. I keep e-mail info on everyone and maintain a irc channel (#mercs)for now.
About taking positive actions. Youll need to gear up both mentally and in software. I highly suggest the both of you obtain 3ds max 4.0 and get slightly aquainted in the meantime between actually getting signed on, and getting pre-pared. If your skills are specialised in coding or 2d graphics we should talk more in depth about where you can apply your skills. I can teach you anything i know how to do. And ive got alot of experience to share. Making a game can be a headache in the enormous scale of work to be done. Its kinda like making a movie or writing a book.

about the only part I'd probably be able to help in is testing. My knowledge in the other areas you have mentioned thus far are slim to none.

beta testers
Ill give the whole clan my game for free. Beta and alpha and all official testing will be done during development, by the developers. Id like to make my game free, and id like to see house forsaken support the game when its finished. But honestly beta testing isnt really helping too much. Im making the game, ill be fully cognicent of any issues which may arise.
Some things cant be tested by the developers alone though. Im looking for developers, people who want to add to the application.

The plan dude
Ok one of the things i like to avoid is characterising something that dosnt exist. I can tell you what i plan, what id like to do, what i set out to do, but honestly theres nothing stopping us from implementing every desired feature and function. So Yes i have a plan for the games specifics, but i like to keep things loose as far as just plans go.
The plan for M.E.R.C.S (Mechanized Expandable Robotic Combat Systems[mechs])includes a FPS interface with a role-playing style persistent gameworld and character. Were going for A futuristic multi-planet universe like atmosphere. And hopefully the game will be filled with a diverse blend of vehicles weapons and items. The most interesting thing you should know is the planned in-game clan features. House forsaken would function as a clan in-game and items and equipment location and clan strength will all have an impact on the games dynamics. House forsaken would own planets, set tax rates defend territories and train and recruit in-game. For a reference to graphic quality and gameplay think tribes2. I know this sounds like a enourmous ammount of work, But ill do it all myself even if it takes me years.

TO AGENT SMITH: Great ill get you renders of all my models and meshes asap. Just so you can see where im at for modelling skills. What well need to do is break up some of the model detailing work. Skinning and animating after making the model has become very time consuming. If your better at models id like to skin and animate and let you do the majority of the mesh design and vice versa.

Welcome aboard Zolt. Theres alot i need to talk to you about. You should start thinking about game ideas.

Agent Smith welcome aboard m8y, i hope you like to model vehicles and weapons. Ive been doing most of the modeling and i hope you can take some of this weight from my shoulders. I just learned how to model myself so im sure youll bring alot to our talent pool.

Sincerely, Hoda

Ah yes and the flames burn on! BF1942=fun.
If they release map and model tools itll probably acquire a long-term fan base. generaly speaking bf1942 is pretty advanced in its rendering features. if you notice you can see a great distance and render objects at any level of detail. Its highly optimised.

Whats better than tanks, guns and giant walking robotic death machines?
Coupled with a persistent game world and in-game politics you get a fantastic warfare simulation platform.

Web development
We will be starting web development tommorow. Well have a web-page with forums available for all of our developers to communicate with. Weve also decided to expand our web-page into a general technology and gaming news resource. Like the planet sites hopefully we can generate some revenue to pay for better hosting etc. If anyone is interested in sharing some ideas about how we can capture the publics attention please dont hesitate to share.

 -Due to gross incompetence well be delaying web dev. Not for long though. The guy who's responsible for web dev is skating on thin ice.

Like gundams?
Its sort of like the gundam universe and the mechwarrior universe in game play dynamics. In looks it would be most like mad max, everything should be dirty and rundown, like its been in a war zone for 5 years.

The story i have so far, Is that a chunk of an alien world crashes into mars with peices of advanced technology allowing warp travel, and fusion power, matter synthesis etc. And humans cant understand it they can just fabricate and repair it. Like hyper drives in star wars. There will be a finite number of universal mercs. Very similar to gundams except more alien. They have strange capabilities and can travel between planets. There will be like 6 of those in all. Concept art would be great and we would love to have an official conceptual artist on the team. Im skinning my models and maybe you can use them as props in your work. Im not a real good 2d artist.

ill see what i can do hoda, ill have to look into those shows, pick up some drawings and morph them into ideas. seing as i dont have a computer, i cannot do much right now.

i have worked on 1 project so far, called the knight mech. it doesnt 'exactly' fit what you specified but ive named it:

Knight Mech F-Ham
Front Heavy Assault Mech
as it stands its got a heavy shielded body, with low projectile weapons, including a melee weapon. nothing plazmatic as in gundam.
so far i only have a frontal drawing, ill do the back, and and sides.

sound cool and i like how you are keeping open minded. one thing im wondering is it sounds like your wanting to make a MMOG am i right? and the things i can help with is consept ideas such as names of iteams what they should look like, and how things would look and sound in the game. another thing i can help with is the story line. im a very creative person i always have ideas. and i have been thinking of lots of game ideas it just i dont know how to do any of the things to make the games. oh and i almost forgot i would love to test the game to.

What we need
What we need in concepts and ideas is:
GUI theme
Intro Art (logo's etc)
Device and equipment names
Panets and Places names
This is just a basic list, Well be making a movie too. With a meteorite crashing into mars with alien technology inside it.
Web development is occuring, just slowly. Keep your eyes on this thread.

would it be possible to have sort of themes and many hidden puzzles... for ex: there will be 'mechs' buried in ice in the middle of no where, and only those mechs can open a passage on some other planet to uncover more of the alien storyline of how the alien tech came to be, afterwards becoming more of an expedition. if there are such storylihnes will there also be intertwinning storylines, such as: soldier1 killed a scientist to aquire new technology, the scientist worked for soldier2. now soldier2's mission to destroy soldier1.
of course much much story building around it.

and how does the game work. are you a person inside a mech, or are you always a mech, would it be possble to be the person and walk around in the market buying technologies to add to your mech and also go on hunts and earn cash killing bandits or doing labour. fighting in giant wars. being hired as mercenaries. would it be possible to build your own home and 'mechbays' use technologies such as 'invisible shields' and 'force fields' to protect your base from being pillaged.

what happens when factions grow too large, will the developpers get a key hand in this, with immensely strong fighter mechs to stop the inevitable invasions. a sort of police? to keep balance in the game, or if we see fit, let the ever growing faction continue its reigh. would it be possible to steal mechs from other players,

is there skill levels involved. will it be a sort of rpg styled. where you gain experience. or more of a quake style, shoot and ask later. will there be many attributes if there are skill levels involved.

Will certain ppl have key roles within the factions, such as: a faction with many scientists will have a higher tech level than a faction that is of pure brute force. Will the many factions have concepts and ideas to be bent around: faction1 is of averaged to about everything, while faction2 is a war faction, faction3 is a theif faction, faction4 is technology. ect.

how will politics involve everyday life in the game. will there be a sort of tax to run the government, elections to votein the high officials. ect.

when handling a 'mech' will it be complicated where as you can do more stuff, or more user friendly where the possibilities are more restricted.
ex: a mech with a shield on one arm, will it be possible to drop the shield so use the weapon of that arm, or will the shield be a peice of the mech and is none removable.

how much more could i ask? lots n lots. i could go on. i have a vivid imagination and nobody listens...
hehehe

cool
We implemented most of those ideas in one way or another already.
Universal mercs cannot be purchased, Well be tucking them away in certain remote planets and locations. The idea is that it takes money and time to find one. And then they must be fought over once they have actually been found. All universal mercs regenerate and are practicly industructable. So after a battle the occupieing forces will usually gain ownership of the u-mercs used in the battle. Id love to put an upgrade and modular vehicle upgrade system. That all breaks down into manhours. Im not being payed by someone and neither are you, If i live for 5 more years then theres an excellent chance i will implement a system. If we get a demo made and get 15,000$ we can do that for sure. We cant have our source code flying across the net etc, so were gonna have to take it one step at a time with coding the games dynamic capabilities. I havnt even coded the character persistence yet. I was going to implement non-combat character classes like technitians and pilots. But we can do anything, so it dosnt matter now. I havnt even purchased the engine license yet. The point here is to make quality and quantity in equal portions. We cant afford to take the time coding and making the entire game, being this small of a group. And well never do as high quality work as a studio. So we have to comprimise some of our plans to do this in a timely manner. If i learn too code, ill be able to finish the demo in 2 years. But thats assuming i eventually fully adapt to c++ syntax. All-inAll we have to take it step by step so we wont fall on our faces. The game will be in first person, and the vehicle gameplay will be like vehicles in bf1942. everything but alien tech will be purchased.

Hoda, ive started a conceptual idea of the first 'solar system' no names, just a pictoral view of what it could look like. yes very sketchy.

i have a sun with a moon in its orbit, a molten planet with a few moons, a meteor ring after that planet, then the 'city planet' with a desert moon and a 2 colonies, afterwards a mining planet along with a mining moon on the same orbit there is another planet which is a storm planet with a dying moon, and last the ice planet.

along with that there is an idea for a 'hidden planet' which doesnt follow any sort of gravitational pull-- it was thrown out of its original orbit back when.

okay you have a layout of the game already thought up.
do we have any character models, any ideas for citys, storylines and names for things and places. (any already thought up, them being sketchy or finalized).

devross i will soon have my computer, we are going to have a chat about concept stuff. so get ready.

anyway give me feedback.
Sorry if this is the only way of contact. but its all i can do, for now.

lates

great
Ok ive begun mapping and modelling for our first planet. Im going for a unfinshed rock look. so it loongs kinda like tatooine in star wars except less brown. We will need foliage and landscape created for the game. as far as game plans, im keeping them somewhat generic until we settle on a look/plot/feel/enviroments. we could still make some BIG changes, so i keep it liquid. if you want to integrate solid plans that we'll be able to handle, just write them in a formal manner, and let the rest of the team see your idea.

uhh I never really thought to check this cause I thought it was just like some joke thing or someone that really isn't serious about it. Well, I can't offer much I can do images in photoshop, I've done work in 3dstudio max, I can code in C++ and VB, I know html and flash, messed around and done some work in adobe premier and not really good but I know how to work most commands in autoCAD... most of this I know but have most likely forgotten lol. So if you need a little help with something I can try my best.

dosnt sound good
Im sorry, if your not looking to contribute much we cant let you on the team. It sounds like you could help. I mean think if we all had the attitude that we werent going to do much. Nothing would get done. So if your dedicated and motivated, and want to contribute a fair share of work wed love to have you help.

-about vehicle theft
It would be simple enough to put in anti theft vehicle code. There several ways we could code it.

just saying I'm probably not good enough to do anything substantial enough for gaming code.... I've seen it and it's pretty much giberish in parts to me. :P

if your just unsure
If your capable but just not confident, i dont see whats preventing you from turning this into an oppurtunity to prove to yourself that you can seriously help. I appreciatte any help anyone offers, but we cant have our project data flying all over kingdom come and back. If someone joins they should atleast have a clear picture of what and how much they plan to contribute. And about not seeing your work first, the team will see your work soon enough, and we can share opinions in a constructive manner. If you like, i could give you a generic version of our game with some open source scripts. scripts are so easy its ridiculous. I dunno you have to be dedicated, if you cant do something.... guess what your gonna have to learn it, to do your job. Its not always a picnic. Sometimes i feel like spock being reborn in star trek. Some things i hate doing like making 5000 textures, and modeling and maping everything. But thats why we work together, the more each of us do indivdualy the more greater our accomplishments are as a team. But lazy, or unmotivated teammates do the exact opposite they hurt the overall efficiency and work output average of the group. I hate looking at human situations through an anyltical lense. I dont mean to be rude either, but honestly i really am seriously commited to producing an awesome team based rpg fps, And i think the enviroment is right for that. I have a spoken with a publisher who has assured me any product thats of sufficient quality we produce will be published/distributed/served. And its not like we couldnt do EVERYTHING OURSELVES, theres no secret about the future of the internet and games. were just betting on the fact that weve got the edge due to our awareness of the grass roots pc game enviroment. That and i think at grew up and realised that someone makes the video games EVERYBODY plays for 6 hours a day. There colleges for this game stuff now (I think i could be a proffesor). so people are paying 40k just to learn how to make games. I get alot of threatened psycology from many people who know nothing of software or games and graphics. I think people get angry when they become confused. Im not worried its like making a movie or a book, it takes a long time to re-create that reality for people so theyre comfortable in the games enviroment and dont feel trapped or confined.

TDZK
TDZK at http://www.tdzk.net is currently in pre-registration which will end sometime later today when the Main Zone opens up for action. HF will have an alliance there, with myself as the leader unless StormFire wants to resume the role he exercised way back in the Fall of 2001 when he was the HF leader in TDZK. TDZK was created (and still admined by) 2 of our HF brothers, Jerle & Hotaru. This is an opportunity for this clan to show to the larger gaming community that HF is still around and is not to be taken lightly.

TDZK is in preregistration. The Main Zone opens up in about 5 hours from now. That way those who can register first, won't have a big head start on everyone else.

3 things:

You can't get into TDZK for another 5 hours until the Main Zone opens up.

If you go to: http://test.tdzk.net/ and register there, you'll be able to play in the Test Zone.

The TDZK Help Files are at: http://www.tdzk.net/help/

you come back every night.

it helps if you also come back every monring, lunch, afternoon, and every moment in between. In otherwords, say good bye to your friends, order ALOT of food, get a fridge installed in your bathroom, and drag your computer in there. Then lock the door.

Well, we've made a decent start in TDZK. 4 member alliance thus far with another player having the password, but not yet in the alliance. We have a Full Alliance with another alliance in the game that already has a planet that we can use. So, basically. we're going to be contrating in the system that our allies are focusing in and hopefully, it'll all work out for Victory in the end.

The planet is at Sector #20222 in the Taenadar System. You get there by looking at the Galaxy map and then looking at the maps of the systems that you go through to get there.

Good question, I posed it to TDZK Admin. (and HF brother) Jerle on ICQ just now and here's his response:

Jerle: (7:10 PM) Experience translates into levels.

Levels make you better at combat, at detecting cloaked ships, and a few other miscellaneous tasks.

As of now, the HF alliance has cracked the Top 40 Alliances in TDZK. We are currently ranked #39, up from #49 about 24 hours ago. Our allies, the Shadow Knights are now ranked #42, up from #65 24 hours ago. We also have our own IRC channel set up, courtesy of a new recruit named Toxico, separate from the HF IRC setup. Finally, an in-game member, Bakito, has applied to go through the HF recruitment process in the BBG Realm. In other words, we are an upswing in TDZK.

Here's the Official Roster:

non-HF.

quasi-HF.

People who play with us but don't want to join HF at large. Its kinda complex, and I think the system should be changed but its a holdover from when we didn't play as HF in SM I guess.

Well, we recruited some more and reached the 26 member mark while still remaining #39 in the Alliance Rankings. From this point on, the main HF alliance will only take in recruits from HF & the HF/CF alliances in SMR. Hopefully, in a week or so, we'll start up a Forsaken Recruits alliance to take in more recruits who could eventually be recruited in the main HF allaince as replacements and/or recruited into the HF clan itself. Anyways, now for the cut and pasted HF Alliance Roster:

House Forsaken

man...
These last few days have been harsh for TDZK... First the servers went down, now they're slow...

I have over 1000 turns and can't spend them because I'm not patient enough to wait for the lag...

This is the GAME that will unite HF
This game is one that anyone in HF can play. This is what we've all been waiting for! remember all that hype about shadowbane, and how everyoen was going to play, and it would make us better because of the unity? well all of that can be come to life with this game:TDZK.
It takes very little time, you can go out there and try to make as much money as you can with your alotted turns and spend 5 minutes, or plan out each move strategically so that youll build the ultimate ship.
This game is free, was made by a couple HF members (Jerle and Hotaru) and has over 2000 players playing. It just resetted last week, so everyone is pretty much on a level basis. The learning curve is really really simple, this is one of those games that takes 5 minutes to learn, but forever to master. I've been playing for a couple days and i just cant seem to get enough! heh, i find myself at my computer waiting for the new hour to come so i get my new 25 turns  This is our chance to show our dominance in the world of gaming... to own at a game that HF made...

so how about it
would you like to be part of the revolution?
its really quite simple
we've already got over 30 members in our alliance, but we could always use more... even if youre not an addict like me... your playing will help you become closer to EVERYONE in hf...
all of you bnet people could play with the cs'ers and mmorpg people... it'd be soooo nice

but the best part.... ITS FREE AND FUN!!
so come join 30 of your fellow HF members as we prepare to pwn all these wannabe startup clans out there...
but not to sound cocky or anything,... cause theres a couple of really good alliances out there who could probly kick our asses... but give us a couple of weeks

www.tdzk.net

any questions? post em here

among the members playing: me, crector, mysty, zolt, smith, darkwulf, darkflare, and others

you know you wanna play

Space and lasers, you can be a trader, a scavenger, a pirate, all that good stuff

its basically darwinism
survival of the fittest, what im trying to do is make HF a powerhouse in the game... right now theres 2-3 other alliances that everyone cringes in fear when their names are mentioned... i want that to be HF

the server should be up again soon... theyre have some problems :X

"TDZK will most likely be down for several hours. The system hung after an attempted Kernel switch. We Are Not Rolling Back."

check out omgn.com, another HF affiliated site for bbg's, they have some info on it

you start off with a frigate, you can use the arrows in the upper left corner to move aroudn on the grid or sector. you can either gather minerals to sell to ports/planets, or you can go from planet to planet buying stuff and resellign it at other planets

you can see what people buy and sell on the galaxy map on your mid left panel

Its very easy and fun. I just need to start playing again.

Those bastard hotaru and jerle said they'd never post less on our forums while making the game, but you just had to know, once it became popular that it would draw all their attention.

please dont post stuff like that jp... its pointless..
sure swg is better than tdzk... they spent millions or whatever to make it
but i know that TDZK has a lot more potential for all of hf

btw guys, the servers up again
since we have reached our 30 player max on our alliance, crector is making a 2nd division of HF
so just start playing, and as soon as we get it up we'll have you guys join the alliance

TDZK was temporarily offline last night due to server problems which have been fixed. The game itself is back up at http://www.tdzk.net

House Forsaken 2 has just been formed.

Password: stormfire

To find the new HF alliance on the Alliance List, you may have to refresh with the 3-member filter off.

Hope to see you there!

Is this something I have to check everyday or can you let a few days go by between logins? I'd hate to sign up only to realize I don't have the time. I know it only takes a few minutes each time, but there are going to be some days coming up that I won't have access.

MC: you need to put in about 10 mins a day... But, if you miss some days, you just make up for it  I'm sure I'll put in something like an hour as soon as the servers are back up to speed...

From the TDZK Help Files:

Joining an Alliance

In order to join an existing alliance you need to know the alliance password. This can usually be obtained from the Alliance Leader if the alliance is actively recruiting. Once you have the password click the Alliance List link from the left panel. The resulting list can be sorted by experience, member count, and alphabetically for you convenience. Click the on the Alliance Name you wish to join to bring up their alliance page. To join them simply type the password into the password field at the bottom of their Alliance page and click the [Join] button.

Note: You cannot join an alliance if you are already a member of another alliance. You must leave your existing alliance and wait for a 12-hour transition period before you will be permitted to join another (See: Leaving an Alliance below).

We made some critical mistakes.
We didnt have things planned as well as we thought.
We didnt have everyone show who was suppose to.

We just sucked
and it showed

Lost a lot of ships...

You must learn Henry's style... look for the last topic made by him and see if the content matches, he dosn't like saying everything in one line or topic.

FYI: Check "Wish us Luck" Thread, it's about TDZK.

It wasn't that bad. Yes, we ultimately failed to capture even the 1st planet that we tried to take. However, we podded a fair number of the Dark Realms lamers and also forced them to use up huge quantities of turns & funds in the defense of their planet. We also learned some valuable lessons on how to conduct such operations in the future.

As such, it may have turned out to be our version of the Battle of Little Bighorn. The bad guys won that engagement, but at a heavy loss and they ultimately lost the war in just a few months time. Learning lessons combined with superior numbers ultimately carries the day.

Let's go for it!

Could someone .. well not to make myself try to sound important, but be involved in the war council? Like I said on mIRC I 'm a good tactician when the mood strikes.. *looks at jewel and crector*

W@ell not only did we fail to capture the planet, but now we also have to deal with the hunters from DR. Dwelgar and I have both had encounters with a coupl of them. We got messages while docked at ports from one of them, telling us not to undock or we would be podded.

Dear Customer,

We are writing on behalf of Cox Communications to advise you that we have received a notification that you are using your Cox High Speed Internet service to post or transmit material that infringes the copyrights of a complainant's members. We have included a copy of the complaint letter. Pursuant to the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), which is codified at 17 U.S.C. § 512, upon receiving such notification, Cox is required to "act expeditiously to remove, or disable access to" the infringing material in order to avoid liability for any alleged copyright infringement. Accordingly, Cox will suspend your account and disable your connection to the Internet within 24 hours of your receipt of this email if the offending material is not removed.

Please be aware that the DMCA also provides procedures by which a subscriber accused of copyright violation can respond to the allegations of infringement and, under certain circumstances, cause his or her account to be reinstated. To do so, however, the response must meet certain criteria. Pursuant to section (g) of the DMCA (17 U.S.C. § 512(g)), you have the right to submit to Cox a counter-notification which, to be effective, must include the following elements:

(a) a physical or electronic signature of the subscriber;
(b) identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or disabled;
(c) a statement under penalty of perjury that the subscriber has a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled;
(d) the subscriberÂ's name, address, and telephone number and a statement that the subscriber consents to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which the address is located.

In the event that you submit to Cox a counter-notification that includes these elements, Cox will forward your counter notification to the complainant and advise them that Cox will cease disabling access to the allegedly infringing material in ten (10) business days. Unless the complainant notifies us that it has filed an action seeking a court order to restrain you from engaging in the allegedly infringing activity prior to the expiration of those ten (10) business days, Cox will reactivate your account.

Sincerely,

The Cox Abuse Team

It's only if you host/dl this stuff over IRC that they can catch you right?

Actually, irc is one of the more secure ways of transmitting data. kazaa/morpheus/etc. are FAR easier to track than irc.

On re-reading this, it really isn't all that surprising that Jewel was just banned from TDZK for cheating including running no fewer than THREE multi accounts.

Oh christ jewel wouldn't fucking hurt a fly.

Get your facts straight.

I don't know you crector, but I know jewel and your words are just out of place.

Read what jewel said and correct your post by replying with an appology of some sort.

Peace amongst the members.

Hmm, sounds like you were not caught with your hand in the cookie jar but giving out free cookies instead. Hide the cookie jar so there is no proof it was you and then sneak them to people. Let others take the blame. Its all good as long as your hands are clean of it. LOL

Did you sign a privicy contract?

Some companys make you sign a contract saying that they will not watch what your doing, Hell most company does it because people like to look at porn hehehe and dont want ISP to see what they are doing.. Anyways if you did make a copy of that contract and send it back to them. Ask them why they voided there own contract.

I support Jewel. Just because he was cheating does not mean he deserves the level of harrassment that crector has been giving him. The man is an unleashed pitbull with bloodlust.

On a side note, Jewel, you are a moron.

i have another idea to stop piracy: music companies start publishing decent albums instead of charging 15 bucks for 1 song and a bunch of shit. ive got no problem paying $15 for a CD, but i do have a problem with paying $15 for a SONG.

movies are a different story. if its a movie worth getting, just pay the $20 =/.

Ditto what Snootch said.

I admit, I do download songs off the internet.

Why? Because as Snootch said, most albums out today are one or two songs and the rest are filler crap.

Bands and record companies are so into making as much money as is possible, that they're forgetting to make decent music.

I have no problem spending $15.00 for a cd with a bunch of good songs on it. I'm more than willing to in fact. But when there's only one or two songs I like, it's just not worth it.

Oh my goodness, it all makes sense, i realize my wrongdoing brought forward to me by that article and will stop sharing immediatly, how could i have been doing something so wrong for so long.... i disgrace myself and my honor by dling mp3s and i shall do so no more....

....For anyone who believed that... shame on you.

I also agree with snootch. I actually prefer having the actual cd rather than a burned one if i really like the album, but now adays, i dont have the money to pay $15-20 dollars for a crappy cd with 2 good songs.

me too. honestly, i will not burn a cd or download mp3's of an artist i like, respect and feel that they are really trying to make good music. i would prefer to support them so they can keep making good stuff.
